Information about the position
At Vinted, backend engineers are part of cross-functional product teams that include Mobile, Web, and Backend engineers, as well as a product manager, designer, and decision scientist. Backend engineers are responsible for implementing business logic, developing APIs for our mobile and web platforms, and scaling our backend systems to meet growing platform needs.
Our team is focused on building Vinted’s messaging experience - a key feature that enables members to communicate, negotiate prices, receive order updates, contact support, and much more.
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who writes clean, elegant code and enjoys working on large-scale projects. Your main goal will be to help evolve our product to meet future challenges, while contributing to Vinted’s mission of making second-hand the first choice - all with a strong focus on delivering an exceptional messaging experience.

In this position, you’ll
- Work on extracting messaging functionality from the monolith into a standalone Go service. Experience with Go is preferred but not strictly required
- Contribute to continuously tested and deployed applications by adding more tests, new features, and breaking down large monoliths into smaller, manageable components
- Handle a wide range of event-driven data projections, produce events for other systems, and monitor your deployed code through tools like Kibana, Grafana, and DataDog
- Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work and collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews
- See your code affect 85 million users almost instantly, as our master branch gets rolled out straight to production on each merge
- Own SLIs/SLOs in the product team to ensure quality and reliability
- Effectively partner across teams to prioritize and deliver results
- Provide direct and impactful feedback in team functions and seek feedback from team members to grow
About you
- You can bring your experience in designing and implementing RESTful services. We're looking for candidates who can architect robust APIs that deliver seamless experiences to our users
- Dive into the world of Go and leverage its power to build scalable and efficient backend systems. Whether you're a seasoned Go developer or eager to deepen your expertise, we welcome your passion for this versatile language
- You should be willing to learn and master new technologies and concepts
- Not afraid of ruby (yes - we do need to read/fix it)

- You are familiar with the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, Systems Architecture, Service-Oriented Architecture, and Event-driven architecture

The salary range for this position is € 4,975 - € 6,725 gross per month.
