Product Manager

Team: Product

Location: South Africa #LI-Hybrid

About the role:

As a Product Manager at Sedna, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of how teams around the world communicate, collaborate and make decisions when moving vital commodities (food, minerals, oil, gas and more) between continents.

Your mission will be to deeply understand the needs of our customers and users, focusing on delivering solutions that address their most critical challenges.

Leading the Connect team, you will be a key architect of our platform vision. Your mission is to take Sedna from disparate product lines and integrations, to a unified TradeOS experience. You’ll do this building, improving and extending our API, including Canvas, our front end tool kit, critical integrations, application marketplace and developer experience.

Your mission will be to deeply understand the needs of our customers, partners, and developers, focusing on delivering solutions that address their most critical challenges. You'll work closely with customers and partners to build first- and third-party applications that extend Sedna's capabilities and drive adoption. This role is perfect for a product manager with a passion for developer experience, APIs, and building the infrastructure that powers a network.

Your responsibilities:

Here's a bit more on what you can expect to be doing day-to-day:

  • Platform strategy: Own the definition and execution of product strategies for the Connect pillar. This includes our APIs, SDKs, Canvas and developer documentation, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and easy to use.
  • Ecosystem development: Identify and prioritise new integration opportunities. Work with both partners and customers to understand their integration needs and our pre-sales and partnerships team to unlock revenue opportunities and support with technical integrations.
  • Customer understanding: Develop a deep understanding of customer and partner needs by collaborating with cross-functional teams, defining and running user research, and usability tests. Use these insights to drive strategic and tactical decisions and become a subject matter expert for your product pillar, Connect.
  • Define product initiatives: Identify and advocate for high-value product improvements with a focus on user satisfaction and commercial viability.
  • Team collaboration: Inspire and motivate designers (UX/UI) and engineers. Encourage and foster an environment of creativity, collaboration, continuous improvement and fail fast to craft new solutions that are a joy to use.
  • Delivery and communication: Maintain your pillar backlog to ensure a consistent cadence of product evolution, prioritising tasks to meet your goals and mitigate risk or delays. Actively communicate project status and blockers to stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Go-to-market support: Support the rollout of new features by working closely with Product Marketing, Customer Operations, and Customer Support. Ensure that new functionalities are effectively communicated and adopted and impact on P&L.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: 3-5 years' experience as a product manager with a proven track record of successfully launching and scaling impactful API or platform products.
  • Technical acumen: Experience product managing developer-facing products such as APIs, SDKs, or design systems. You should be comfortable debating technical direction and translating complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Experience using tools such as Postman and AI tools, such as Loveable or Bolt.
  • Customer and user centricity: Driven to create solutions that solve business needs with a specific focus on the developer experience. A passion for clean documentation, intuitive APIs, and building products that developers love to use is essential.
  • Mindset: A curious and learning mindset, always seeking to understand the business context and the complex technical challenges of our users.
  • Communication skills: Excellent communication and facilitation skills, capable of conveying technical concepts and inspiring teams towards a shared vision.
