Role Description

Rohirrim is seeking an experienced Controller/Director of Accounting with 8+ years of financial leadership experience in enterprise Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) organizations. This role will lead the accounting team in closing the books, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial statements, and managing accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP) cycles. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, possess deep familiarity with SaaS revenue recognition, and be capable of collaborating with executive leadership. Prior experience managing audits led by Big 4 accounting firms and supporting due diligence for fundraising or M&A is essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and own all monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for a fast-growth enterprise SaaS organization.
  • Direct and manage daily AR and AP operations to optimize cash flow.
  • Prepare, review, and report comprehensive financial statements to executive leadership, Board of Directors, and investors.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and facilitate financial audits by Big 4 accounting firms, ensuring all compliance and documentation needs are met.
  • Execute due diligence processes for fundraising, investor relations, and potential M&A opportunities, providing data, financial documentation, and thorough analysis.
  • Implement, document, and refine internal controls and financial policies to strengthen compliance and operational accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain processes for SaaS revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606 and GAAP standards.
  • Manage cross-departmental relationships across FP&A, operations, legal, and product, driving business alignment and efficiency.
  • Will require occasional travel (1-3 times per quarter) to the company’s McLean, Virginia office.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of accounting/finance experience, with a proven record of closing the books for enterprise SaaS companies. You will work closely with and oversee our external accountants.
  • Extensive ownership of AR and AP cycles, with a focus on cash management and process optimization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing audits by Big 4 accounting firms as the primary client contact.
  • Proven involvement in due diligence processes supporting fundraising, investor presentations, and M&A activities.
  • Expertise in SaaS revenue recognition, ASC 606, and US GAAP compliance.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial ERP and accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Intacct, SAP).
  • Exceptional communication and executive reporting skills, including written and verbal presentations for management and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Based in the DC-Metro region or the Philadelphia-Metro region.



Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or CPA/MBA credentials are a plus.
  • Track record implementing new financial systems and scaling processes at early-stage or growth-focused companies.
  • Prior experience supporting fundraising, investor relations, and/or M&A activities in a SaaS environment.
  • Experience with the federal government and federal government contractors.
  • Experience with workflow automation or AI-powered financial tools.
