We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tax Specialist to join our team. As a Tax Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting management with ensuring compliance with taxes for our organization. You will play a vital role in the tax planning and reporting process, while maintaining adherence to applicable laws and regulations.


Essential Functions:

Tax Planning and Compliance:
• Conduct thorough research and analysis of tax laws, regulations, and rulings to ensure compliance with corporate and indirect taxes
• Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to optimize the organizations tax position
• Prepare and review tax returns, which may include income taxes, sales tax, and other applicable tax filings
• Monitor and track changes in tax laws and regulations, keeping the organization informed of potential impact and recommending necessary adjustments

Tax Reporting and Documentation:
• Prepare accurate and timely tax reports, schedules, and documentation required for internal and external reporting purposes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary financial and operational data for tax reporting
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all tax-related documentation, including maintaining proper records and supporting documentation for audits and inquiries

Indirect Tax
· Determine indirect tax treatment for each customer in respective geography
· Propose Avalara tax code assignments for new products as well as propose changes to existing products, as needed, when Avalara makes tax changes
· VAT, GST, PST tax filings

Corporate Tax
• Analyze and prepare book to tax differences, deferred tax assets, liabilities, and valuation allowance schedules under the rules of ASC 740
• Prepare taxable income and cash tax forecasts for key stakeholders
• Calculate estimated tax payments across all jurisdictions as needed
• Prepare technical memorandum documenting tax issues
• Assist in transfer pricing analysis and maintain policies in place
• Coordinate with third party tax consultants related to tax compliance, tax provision, transfer pricing, and other projects as needed

Tax Audit Support:
• Assist in managing tax audits by coordinating with external auditors and tax authorities
• Provide required documentation and explanations to support the organizations tax positions during audits
• Review and respond to inquiries and notices from tax authorities, resolving any issues and discrepancies

Tax Advisory and Risk Management:
• Stay informed about changes in tax laws and regulations to identify potential risks and opportunities for the organization
• Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and legal, to ensure tax implications are considered in business decisions and transactions

Continuous Improvement
• Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes, improve efficiency, and implement best practices
• Stay updated with emerging tax technologies and tools to enhance the effectiveness and accuracy of tax related tasks
• Participate in professional development activities, such as attending trainings or obtaining relevant certifications to expand tax knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

Required:
• Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance or combination of equivalent education, experience or superior performance
• 2+ years of relevant tax experience with indirect or corporate taxes
• Ability to perform tax research
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in a teaming environment and with all levels of management
• Strong PC skills including high proficiency in Excel
• Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism with the ability to deal with difficult, sensitive and confidential material
• Exceptional aptitude for accuracy and timeliness
• Flexible and dependable

Desired:
• Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, Accounting)
• CPA
• Proficient knowledge of tax preparation programs and tax compliance
• ASC 740 Exposure for corporate taxes

The pay range for this role is based on relative market data and alignment with our compensation philosophy. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum of the pay range for each job posting, which is used to determine new hire rates/salaries and takes into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, proficiencies, experience, education, licensures/certifications, as well as business and organizational needs. nCino reserves the right to modify the posted range consistent with our internal practices and external market movement. The recruiter for this job posting can share more compensation details during the recruitment process, as base salary is only one component of the total compensation package per position posted.

The base salary range for this job is:

$59,800.00 - $95,700.00
