Job Title: Attorney

We are seeking a licensed California Attorney to lead the preparation of legal documents using our drafting software and provide expert consultation on product improvements specific to the state of California. This role requires a deep understanding of California family law and a proactive approach to optimizing legal tech tools for greater efficiency, compliance, and user experience.

The ideal candidate combines legal expertise with a strong interest in legal innovation and technology-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and file petitions and related legal documents using cutting edge drafting software
  • Analyze client data and case information to prepare legally accurate and strategically sound documents.
  • Serve as the legal expert on California procedural requirements and court filing practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, legal ops) to identify friction points and recommend improvements in the drafting software.
  • Provide actionable feedback on the tool’s usability, logic, and compliance to support ongoing development.
  • Monitor changes in California law and court procedures that impact the platform and documentation standards.
  • Contribute to the development of internal guidelines, templates, and best practices for California-based filings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of California and in good standing
  • 2+ years of legal practice experience, with a strong focus on litigation, family law, civil procedure, or related fields involving court petitions
  • Deep knowledge of California legal standards, procedural rules, and court systems
  • Excellent legal writing and document drafting skills
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and professional judgment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, fast-paced environment
  • Interest in legal technology and product development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with legal technology platforms (e.g., e-filing systems, document automation tools)
  • Previous work in a startup or innovation-focused legal setting
  • Experience providing feedback to product teams or working on user-centered legal tools
