Family Law Associate Attorney

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Family Law Attorney with a minimum of 3 years of substantive family law experience in California. This attorney must be comfortable taking full ownership of their cases and is experienced in managing complex matters from start to finish. You will be responsible for all aspects of family law litigation—including client communication, discovery, settlement, court appearances, and trial. Additionally, you must be comfortable operating in a remote-first environment and have experience using technology to efficiently and effectively practice.
This is a fully remote position, but regular travel within Northern California is required for court appearances and in-person meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle a full caseload independently, including all stages of litigation
- Manage case strategy, client communication, pleadings, motions, discovery, negotiations, and trial preparation
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and trials across the state of California
- Collaborate with support staff and legal team members to ensure high-quality service
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of California family law, court procedures, and local rules
- Provide exceptional client service, balancing empathy with strategic advocacy
Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California
- Minimum 3 years of substantive family law experience in California
- Proven ability to independently manage and litigate family law cases
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel across Northern California as needed
- Comfort with remote work technologies and case management systems
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with high-conflict custody, complex property division, and/or domestic violence matters
- Comfortable using legal tech platforms for case management and client communication
