Senior Software Engineer

Lantern is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our healthcare technology team and play a pivotal role in designing and building cloud-based applications that improve the lives of patients and healthcare providers. This role combines hands-on software development with opportunities to influence architectural decisions and mentor team members. You’ll work across the full stack—developing scalable backend services in .NET, building intuitive frontends, and delivering secure APIs—all within a cloud-native, regulated environment.

The ideal candidate is not only technically strong but also collaborative, proactive, and mission driven. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, working cross-functionally with clinicians, product managers, and compliance teams, and thinking critically about the trade-offs in healthcare technology. Location: Remote in Canada (Preferred Vancouver)

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust backend solutions using .NET (C#)with an emphasis on security and compliance in line with HIPAA and healthcare regulations.
  • Develop, document, and maintain RESTful APIsfor integration with applications, third-party services, and mobile platforms.
  • Create intuitive and responsive frontends using React or Angular tailored to care advocates and patient-facing applications.
  • Leverage cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)to build scalable, high-availability solutions using cloud-native services such as functions, messaging queues, storage, and managed databases.
  • Architect and maintain CI/CD pipelinesto support continuous delivery and infrastructure automation with tools like Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Clinical, Compliance, and QA teams to define technical requirements and ensure regulatory alignment.
  • Participate in system architecture design, peer code reviews, and sprint planning.
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to internal technical standards and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Master’s degree in engineering or related field is a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong proficiency in .NET Core, C#, Typescript, Angular or
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with building secure and scalable REST APIs.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience developing with relational databases like Microsoft SQL (preferred), PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.
  • Experience with unit tests frameworks like xUnit, Jest, Moq to ensure code reliability, accuracy, and maintainability.
  • Experience working OAuth 2.0 authentication and authorization flows.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and familiarity with related tools like Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong Experience with Cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges using modern design principles.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards(FHIR, HL7, X12) and working in HIPAA-compliant environments.
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud or software development.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep).
