About the Role

Datto BCDR is looking for a Product Owner to support the development and continuous improvement of our Backup and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) solutions, including Siris, Alto, and Datto NAS. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation, a passion for hardware, networking, Windows and Linux operating systems, and a keen interest in backup and disaster recovery technologies.

As a Product Owner, you will work closely with engineering, product management, and QA to help refine product requirements, prioritize backlog items, and drive execution using SCRUM methodologies. This is a hands-on role that requires a mix of technical acumen and product management fundamentals to ensure our solutions continue to meet the needs of our MSP partners and their clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and product management to define and prioritize product backlog items for Datto BCDR hardware and software.
• Work with hardware (Siris, Alto, Datto NAS), networking, and OS-level components (Windows/Linux) to assist in troubleshooting, validation, and feature development.
• Define clear and concise user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements to support continuous product improvement.
• Support agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and daily stand-ups.
• Gather feedback from internal teams, partners, and customers to help shape product enhancements and future roadmap initiatives.
• Assist in validating releases, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), and ensuring a seamless deployment experience.
• Stay up to date on backup and disaster recovery trends, cybersecurity best practices, and emerging technologies.
• Help maintain product documentation and assist in cross-functional communication between support, sales, and marketing teams.

What You Bring

• 1-3 years of experience in technical product management, product ownership, or related roles in a hardware/software environment.
• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions, storage technologies, and disaster recovery best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux, and networking fundamentals (VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, etc.).
• Understanding of agile methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban) and experience working with Jira or similar tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, QA, support, and product teams.
• Knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), cloud-based backup strategies, and security compliance (FIPS, encryption, etc.) is a plus.

Why Join Datto?

• Work on industry-leading BCDR solutions that help protect businesses from downtime and data loss.
• Gain hands-on experience with hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity in a fast-paced product environment.
• Be part of a collaborative and agile team focused on continuous innovation.
