Job Description Summary

We are looking for an experienced SEO professional to lead our growing team as SEO Director for our short-term rentals division. This client-facing and management position is responsible for overseeing our SEO services, driving innovation for better client results on Search, supporting client retention efforts, and developing research and case studies across Inhabit.

Inhabit’s Short-Term Rentals division serves its clients through its Digital Marketing Services (DMS) brands. Bluetent is a DMS brand that helps property managers drive bookings and owner acquisitions through marketing channels such as email, pay-per-click (PPC) search ads, social media ads, and SEO. The SEO Director is part of Bluetent’s “functional management” group, leading and training team members who run campaigns on behalf of Bluetent clients. This role requires functional expertise in organic search and demonstrated leadership experience with small- to mid-size teams, including leading other leaders.

What You’ll Do (Functions & Responsibilities)

  • Oversee operations of Inhabit’s SEO services across its digital marketing brands for the short-term rental market.
  • Ensure positive client results in key performance indicators, such as organic bookings, owner acquisitions, keyword ranking improvements, and organic site sessions. Set targets for each team member’s KPIs and ensure they meet or exceed them.
  • Manage a team of SEO specialists, account managers, leads, and copywriters directly. Write quarterly performance reviews and ensure team members meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Coach and mentor team members to develop new skills and fulfilling careers.
  • Foster collaboration between team members and develop in-house expertise for peer-to-peer learning opportunities.
  • Research, develop, implement, and scale best practices for positive client outcomes on AI search platforms such as Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode, Bing Copilot, Perplexity, and ChatGPT.
  • Improve internal processes by keeping tasks up to date, maintaining accurate documentation, establishing controls for accountability, and eliminating unnecessary work.
  • Manage SEO campaigns for a small portfolio of clients. Perform tasks related to these campaigns, including keyword research, Local SEO tactics, site audits, content editing/writing, and updating metadata.
  • Provide industry-specific SEO insights for use in external communications and internal training.
  • Support account team leads and strategic account managers in their client retention efforts.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 6+ years of experience in SEO with a proven track record of leading and executing successful organic search strategies.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role, managing SEO teams, agencies, or cross-functional SEO initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of technical SEO, on-page and off-page optimization, and website architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience using tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Moz, or similar.
  • Strong experience with content strategy, keyword research, link-building strategies, and competitive analysis.
  • Experience working with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) and collaborating with developers on SEO implementation.
  • Familiarity with Core Web Vitals, site speed optimization, mobile-first indexing, and structured data.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform strategy and demonstrate ROI.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present SEO concepts to stakeholders of all technical levels.
