Job Description Summary

The Sr. Licensing Specialist oversees the licensing of employees and partners responsible for the sale and marketing of our P&C insurance products. They ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and maintain all necessary records. Being a Licensing Specialist, you will manage the license acquisition and renewal processes. You will establish databases, recordkeeping policies, and strategies to track the status of agents, applications and forms. This role will report to the Manager, Insurance Regulatory Compliance.

What You’ll Do (Functions & Responsibilities)

  • Manage the full life cycle of insurance licensing for agents and entities, including applications, renewals, appointments, terminations, and regulatory filings
  • Coordinate with the legal, compliance and business development teams to support licensing needs for new product launches or market expansions
  • Monitor and interpret changes in state insurance licensing laws and ensure timely implementation of the updated requirements
  • Conduct thorough manual licensing audits to ensure compliance for agents and entities
  • Support external regulatory reviews by preparing and providing accurate documentation
  • Manage data entry and tracking in proprietary systems and state portals
  • Oversee compliance with all licensing requirements across states, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards
  • Communicate progress on key licensing initiatives, challenges and successes to senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external regulators to ensure seamless licensing operations
  • Monitor and track continuing education requirements for licensees

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For (Minimum qualifications)

  • Minimum of 5+ years of licensing experience in the P&C insurance industry
  • Demonstrated experience working in a highly regulated environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with an insurance MGA/insurer to build out the process for and manage licensing
  • Experience with insurance industry state regulations and processes
  • Strong understanding of insurance industry best practices and functionality
  • Exceptional analytical ability, strong technical skills and business intelligence skills
  • Possess a strong customer service mindset and demonstrate a full understanding of the needs of the internal and external business partners
  • Project management skill set with the ability to manage special complex projects which are large in scope
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business and technical environment

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
