Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end legal support for business launches in new markets and new verticals.
- Serve as the primary legal point of contact for your MacroRegion.
- Advise on a wide range of legal issues: civil law, commercial/contracts, marketing & advertising, consumer protection, digital law, employment, platform regulation, tax, fintech, IP, and more.
- Review and approve advertising and promotional campaigns to ensure legal compliance.
- Monitor and assess upcoming regulations and manage legal risk across jurisdictions.
- Manage communications with government authorities and regulatory bodies.
- Lead and develop a legal team (internal and/or external), overseeing their performance, workload allocation, and professional growth.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects and support internal alignment on legal strategies.
- Develop internal policies, compliance checklists, and mitigation plans.
- Manage external legal vendors, budgets, KPIs, and performance metrics.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of legal experience, including at least 2 years in a law firm.
- Strong expertise in civil law, commercial contracts, marketing & advertising regulation, consumer protection, and pre-litigation dispute resolution.
- Proven legal experience in the Middle East and Africa, with solid understanding of regional legal frameworks, business practices, and regulatory environments.
- Experience in data protection, IP, fintech, and tax is a strong plus.
- Proven team leadership and management skills.
- Excellent legal judgment, risk assessment, and business-oriented thinking.
- High level of English proficiency (C1/C2).
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- A hands-on, proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Solid understanding of business and financial metrics.
