Job Overview
As a Business Intelligence Engineer III, you'll own the full analytics lifecycle – from requirements gathering and pipeline development to design of data models and delivery of dashboards and analytical tools that support both our customers and internal stakeholders. You’ll be responsible for the structure and scalability of our reporting systems, drive adoption of modern best practices, and mentor others on the team. As a senior-level contributor, you’ll be expected to take ownership of complex analytics initiatives, define best practices, and help scale data solutions that serve both internal and customer-facing needs.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data models, pipelines, and warehouse infrastructure to support analytics use cases.
- Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, cost efficiency, and reliability, providing issue resolution and maintenance for the analytics platform, as needed.
- Create, enhance, and maintain customer-facing dashboards and reports that deliver accurate and actionable analytics.
- Define standardized metrics, KPIs, and advanced analyses (e.g., cohort analysis, period over period) to uncover insights and influence product and business strategy.
- Write high-quality SQL and maintain clean, reusable analytics code using version control.
- Contribute to data governance practices including documentation, access control, data masking and anonymization, and metric consistency.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior team members through code reviews, design sessions, and knowledge sharing while defining team coding standards and reusable frameworks.
- Champion analytics best practices and continuously seek opportunities to improve tooling and processes for reporting and data science.
- Represent analytics engineering in cross-functional planning and roadmap discussions.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data/Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics) or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience (6+ years) owning end-to-end production data solutions and driving decision-making as an analytics or business intelligence engineer.
- Deep expertise in reading and writing advanced SQL, building pipelines, and maintaining cloud data storage (e.g., in Snowflake). Some Python experience for analysis or automation preferred.
- Proficiency in LookML for data visualization, including building and governing explores, applying user attributes/access filters, using PDTs, and delivering multi‑tenant dashboards.
- Experience with Jira, Git-based workflows for collaborative development, and CI/CD practices.
- Strong business intuition to turn ambiguous stakeholder questions into clear metrics and ability to communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred
- Experience with machine learning, event-driven architecture, or real-time analytics.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) as part of the daily engineering workflow.
- Familiarity with food supply chain, quality management systems, or enterprise SaaS analytics products.
Compensation
The salary for this position typically ranges from $110,880 to $126,000. This range is intended to reflect prevailing salaries in different geographic locations across the United States as well as the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
