What We’re Building
Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023!
If you want to see what we’ve been up to, please check out these blog posts and Honeycomb.io press releases.
Who We Are
We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live our values every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers.
How We Work
We are a fully distributed company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote
Little more about the team
Our Finance team is small, mighty, and deeply embedded in shaping Honeycomb’s next stage of growth. As a Principal Financial Analyst, you’ll operate as a strategic partner across GTM, R&D, and G&A—diving into complex forecasting, strategic modeling, and supporting leadership with insights that drive high-quality decisions. You’ll influence how we plan, invest, and scale, working in a fast-moving environment where your analysis directly impacts our revenue trajectory, operational performance, and long-term planning. This role isn’t about maintaining models—it’s about helping steer the business.
What you’ll do in the role
- Build, refine, and own complex financial models that support forecasting, scenario planning, resource allocation, and strategic decision-making across the company.
- Partner closely with GTM, R&D, People, and Finance leadership to translate business strategies into actionable financial insights and operational recommendations.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses into revenue performance, unit economics, cohort behavior, pipeline trends, and cost structures to surface meaningful drivers and levers.
- Lead monthly/quarterly forecasting cycles—synthesizing data, identifying variances, and shaping insights for exec-level reporting.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, reporting mechanisms, and data views that ensure leaders have clear visibility into performance and trends.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders by proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and signals that shape our planning and investment roadmap.
- Drive continuous improvement across Finance processes, modeling standards, and reporting frameworks to increase accuracy, clarity, and speed.
- Support board-level materials, long-range planning, annual budgeting, and cross-functional planning initiatives.
What you’ll bring to the role
- 5–8+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or related roles within high-growth SaaS or tech environments.
- Advanced-level experience building and maintaining multi-dimensional financial models—and strong intuition for translating business strategy into numbers.
- Ability to partner with executives and cross-functional teams with clarity, confidence, and strong business acumen.
- Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, break down complex problems, and develop structured, data-driven recommendations.
- Deep understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, CAC, payback, pipeline coverage, churn/retention dynamics, etc.).
- Strong analytical rigor with the ability to interpret complex data sets and convert insights into compelling narratives.
- High ownership mindset—comfortable leading initiatives, anticipating stakeholder needs, and operating with minimal direction.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for senior leadership, cross-functional partners, and non-financial audiences.
