What We’re Building
Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023!
If you want to see what we’ve been up to, please check out these blog posts and Honeycomb.io press releases.
Who We Are
We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live our values every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers.
How We Work
We are a remote-first company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote

Little more about the team:

Our small but mighty Finance team is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst – Revenue and Commissions to join us. This is a rare opportunity to own the commissions function end-to-end while also building a foundation to expand into broader revenue analytics and modeling as we scale. We’re looking for someone who thrives on autonomy, holds strong convictions around accuracy and process improvement, and wants to make a visible impact across Sales, Finance, and Revenue Operations. If you are passionate about driving operational excellence now and growing into strategic Finance work over time, this is the role for you.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Own and manage the full commissions lifecycle — from ARR reconciliation, order validation, calculations, approvals, accruals, and payouts.
  • Prepare and record accurate monthly commissions accruals and support capitalization of commissions under ASC 340-40.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, and Accounting to ensure post-close deal integrity and commissions eligibility.
  • Review closed deals for order accuracy, validate CRM fields critical to commissions, and work closely with Revenue Operations to resolve discrepancies.
  • Design, build, and administer annual and quarterly compensation plans, including quota setting, onboarding new AEs and SDRs, and managing SPIFF programs.
  • Act as a strategic partner to Sales leadership and Go-To-Market teams, providing guidance on comp plans, SPIFF structures, payout disputes, and commissions policies.
  • Implement continuous improvements and drive automation across commissions and revenue processes, including enhancing systems like Spiff and Salesforce.
  • Deliver reporting, analysis, and actionable revenue insights to Finance leadership and Sales leaders, with opportunities to expand into pipeline analysis and sales productivity reporting over time.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 5+ years of experience in commissions, sales compensation, revenue operations, or sales finance roles, preferably within high-growth SaaS or technology companies.
  • Mandatory experience administering commissions through Spiff (candidates without Spiff experience cannot be considered).
  • Expertise designing and administering complex commission plans (quotas, accelerators, SPIFFs, clawbacks) and supporting plan modeling.
  • Strong technical proficiency with spreadsheets (advanced Excel modeling) and revenue/ERP systems like Salesforce, NetSuite, and CPQ tools.
  • Experience preparing monthly commission accruals and supporting capitalized commissions accounting under ASC 340-40.
  • Familiarity with order operations, post-sales deal review, and CRM data validation to ensure commissions accuracy.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive, builder’s mindset to drive continuous improvements.
  • Ability to independently prioritize, manage ambiguity, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a commitment to confidentiality and cross-functional collaboration.

Base pay range for this role is $140,000- $165,000 based on level of experience

What you'll get when you join the Hive:

  • A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program
  • It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience
  • Time to recharge - Unlimited PTO and paid sabbatical
  • A remote-first mindset and culture (really!)
  • Home office, co-working, and internet stipend
  • 100% employee/75% for dependents coverage for all benefits
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of path to parenthood
  • Annual development allowance
  • And much more...
