The Opportunity
At Hinge Health, we’re transforming how 20+ million people access musculoskeletal care through AI-powered, human-centered solutions - and our R&D organization is the engine behind that innovation.
We’re looking for a Technical Program Builder to join the Office of the CTO and architect the R&D operational engine. This is a unique “builder” TPM role where you won’t just manage processes. You will design and implement the systems, tooling, and AI agents that automate them.
You’ll leverage AI, automation, and smart infrastructure to eliminate manual coordination, reduce operational drag, and enable teams to move faster with clarity and precision. If you have seen program management at complex organizations first hand and found yourself thinking “this meeting could be automated” or “we shouldn’t need a human to track this,” you’ll thrive here.
This role is about building scalable execution infrastructure - not status reporting. You will act as a force multiplier for engineering teams, creating systems that streamline cross-pod coordination and ensure our internal operations are as innovative as the care we deliver to our members.
What You'll Accomplish
In your first 3 months:
Audit & Identify: Assess R&D operational processes and identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven automation and tooling improvements. Create a clean system of processes across R&D.
Build Relationships: Establish trust with R&D leadership and pod leads, understanding their pain points and operational bottlenecks.
Quick Wins: Deploy initial automated agents or scripts to streamline the most repetitive R&D workflows.
In your first 6 months:
Launch AI-Driven Infrastructure: Architect and deploy the R&D knowledge base and Internal Developer Portal optimized for both human and AI retrieval.
Standardize Operations: Design and roll out standardized operational processes across R&D, championing "AI-native ways of working."
Drive Planning Excellence: Lead one full quarterly OKR cycle, establishing a "single source of truth" for the R&D roadmap.
In your first year:
Scale Systems: Build low-code integrations (Jira/Linear, Slack, GSuite) that automate metrics collection and surface project health/velocity in real-time.
Transform Execution: Own the end-to-end R&D planning cycle, reducing planning overhead by 30% through automation while improving forecast accuracy.
Establish Innovation Culture: Identify and implement AI/ML opportunities that become operational standards, acting as a force multiplier for R&D leadership.
Who You Are
A Builder at Heart: You don't just ask for a tracker; you build the tool that generates it. You are comfortable writing scripts, configuring AI agents, and using technical skills to solve operational problems directly.
A Strategic Orchestrator: You excel at "Leading at all Levels," navigating the complexity of cross-pod coordination to align diverse stakeholders on planning and OKRs without losing sight of the big picture. You are a direct communicator, can get clear answers, and know how to motivate teams with a sense of urgency.
A Resilient Problem Solver: You thrive in fast-paced environments and embody our "Hustle" value. When gaps appear—whether in personnel or process—you step in to bridge them, ensuring the team never misses a beat.
Basic Requirements
5+ years of experience in technical program management, product operations, or a related engineering role
Demonstrated experience building custom AI agents or utilizing LLM APIs to drive productivity and automation
Proven track record of managing comprehensive planning cycles and OKR processes for technical teams
Experience with modern project management ecosystems (e.g., Jira, Linear) and documentation platforms (e.g., Notion, Confluence)
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex process changes to diverse audiences
Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Requirements
Strong understanding of Developer Experience (DX) metrics and how to influence them
Background in software engineering or data analysis
Certification in Agile or Project Management (PMP, CSM)
Experience working in a high-growth technology environment
Experience working in Health Tech and familiarity with healthcare regulations
