CFD & Thermal Simulation Workflow Intern

Who We Are

Gamma Technologies (GT), the global leader in multi-physics system simulation software, develops a suite of integrated solutions designed to guide and accelerate the engineering transformation of today’s products. Fusing advanced physics with AI algorithms, our platform, GT-SUITE, is used to simulate a broad range of systems from early stage development to digital twin applications across multiple industries including transportation and mobility, marine, aerospace and defense, power and energy, data centers and HVACR.

At Gamma Technologies, our people are the driving force behind our success. We are looking for a CFD & Thermal Simulation Workflow Intern who shares our passion for authentic innovation, trusted partnerships, bold decisions and a relentless focus on customer success. The ideal candidate is an engineering student eager to gain deep, hands-on experience with industry-specific simulation workflows in a collaborative, technically challenging environment.

What You Will Do

You will conduct a comprehensive audit of our cabin modeling workflows — tools that enable users to create steady-state 3D CFD models and convert them into fast-running, transient 3D conjugate heat transfer (CHT) simulations capable of achieving faster-than-real-time performance.

  • Develop a data-driven understanding of our 3D modeling workflow through systematic analysis and testing
  • Build a series of test models to evaluate solver performance and workflow efficiency
  • Identify areas for improvement and contribute to the prioritization and design of solutions
  • Conduct supporting market and background research on relevant simulation technologies
  • Document findings and present results to the engineering team
  • Take on increasing responsibility and complexity over time, growing from mentored tasks toward independent work

What You Will Bring

  • Currently enrolled in Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Familiarity with CFD concepts; prior experience with simulation software is a plus
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and structured problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and grow into increasingly complex tasks over time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CFD or thermal simulation tools (e.g., GT-SUITE, ANSYS, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM)
  • Understanding of heat transfer and fluid dynamics fundamentals
  • Programming or scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, or similar)
  • Interest in automotive, HVAC, aerospace, or other thermal system applications
  • What You’ll Gain
  • Deep familiarity with an industry-specific simulation workflow and its underlying technologies
  • Exposure to 3D CFD, transient conjugate heat transfer, and real-time simulation methods
  • Opportunity to work with and be mentored by experienced simulation engineers
  • Practical engineering skills directly applicable to careers in simulation, product development, or R&D

What We Can Offer You

  • The intern will work closely with our engineering team, beginning with significant mentorship and progressing toward independent, complex project work.
  • The selected candidate must be able to self-provide housing and transportation for the duration of the internship.
  • The expected hourly rate is $28.00 – $42.00. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Hourly rates are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
