Responsibilities
- Design and build custom data ingestion pipelines to connect client data sources—no matter how disparate, legacy, or unconventional—to Filevine.
- Collaborate with clients to assess their data landscapes, identify ingestion opportunities, and implement secure, reliable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
- Handle a wide variety of data formats and sources (e.g., databases, APIs, flat files, spreadsheets, legacy systems) with a focus on data quality, validation, and transformation.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security standards critical to the legal industry (e.g., handling sensitive client information).
- Troubleshoot and optimize data flows in production environments, resolving issues related to connectivity, volume, or schema mismatches.
- Provide technical guidance and training to clients on data integration best practices during and after implementation.
- Document pipelines, mappings, and custom solutions while feeding client insights back to the product and engineering teams for platform improvements.
- Perform onsite engagements as needed to accelerate integrations and drive adoption.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer, ETL Developer, or in customer-facing integration roles (e.g., solutions engineering or professional services).
- Strong proficiency in building data pipelines using tools like Python, SQL, Apache Spark, Airflow, or similar.
- Expertise in connecting to diverse data sources: relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server), NoSQL, APIs (REST/SOAP), file-based systems, and cloud storage.
- Experience with data transformation, cleansing, and handling unstructured or "messy" data.
- Knowledge of data security best practices, especially in regulated industries (e.g., encryption, access controls, compliance with HIPAA or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to improvise solutions for non-standard data challenges.
- Strong communication skills to translate technical details for non-technical stakeholders (e.g., firm administrators and attorneys).
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively to client sites nationwide.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent experience.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in legal tech, SaaS integrations, or enterprise data migrations.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) for data ingestion and storage.
- Background in handling high-volume or real-time data streams.
- Passion for tackling "impossible" data problems in a high-impact, client-driven environment.
