Job Description:
ELLKAY is seeking a Director of Product Management to lead the strategy, modernization, and execution of the next generation of our interface engine platform. This role owns a mission‑critical capability that powers interoperability and data flow across ELLKAY’s product ecosystem, serving large, complex healthcare organizations at national scale.
This leader will combine strategic vision with hands‑on execution, managing a team of Product Managers and Product Owners while partnering closely with Software Engineering. The role is responsible for product rationalization, vendor and partner alignment, and representing customer workflows and real‑world needs throughout a multi‑year platform refactoring and modernization effort.
This is a highly visible, externally facing leadership role with direct impact on customer success, platform scalability, and ELLKAY’s long‑term competitive differentiation.
Focus Areas
BASE (First 3–6 Months)
• Establish and execute an AI‑first product strategy for ELLKAY’s next‑generation interface engine
GROWTH (6–12 Months)
• Partner with the VP of Software Engineering on roadmap planning, capacity alignment, and phased refactoring of the interface engine to support large hospital systems
FUTURE (12+ Months)
• Position ELLKAY’s interface engine as a market‑leading, AI‑enabled interoperability platform.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve the product roadmap and operating cadence for the platform.
- Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring workflow efficiency, usability, and scalability guide platform decisions.
- Define and achieve financial and performance targets, including top-line growth, bottom-line efficiency, platform throughput, scalability, and reliability
- Assess the current interface portfolio, identifying opportunities for product rationalization, modernization, and simplification across legacy and modern capabilities.
- Ensure customer workflows, operational realities, and scalability requirements are represented in early refactoring and planning efforts.
- Provide clear, consistent executive‑level reporting on progress, risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
- Define and track success metrics across customer adoption, platform performance, and financial impact.
- Manage vendor and partner relationships related to interface technology, tooling, and integrations.
- Identify opportunities to unlock new revenue, improve margin efficiency, and increase platform leverage.
- Own requirements definition for complex initiatives, rolling up sleeves as needed to unblock delivery.
- Evaluate the interface engine business model, use cases, and vendor ecosystem to shape a differentiated, long‑term platform strategy.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of Product Managers and Product Owners, setting clear expectations, priorities, and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in Product Management, including leadership of platform or infrastructure products.
- Proven experience managing Product Managers and Product Owners.
- Deep expertise in healthcare data exchange, including HL7, FHIR, SMART on FHIR, Bulk FHIR, and legacy interface models.
- Experience defining and executing interface or integration platform roadmaps at national scale
- Strong background with both SaaS software architectures
- Demonstrated ability to partner closely with Engineering on large‑scale refactoring and modernization initiatives
- Experience applying an AI‑first mindset to product strategy and operational challenges
- Exposure to financial planning, product P&L considerations, and vendor management
- Experience working with hospital, laboratory, and payer customer segments
- Familiarity with Agile, Kanban, and Scrum SDLC methodologies
- Ability and willingness to be hands‑on with requirements when needed

- A track record delivering or modernizing interface engines for large healthcare enterprises.
- Experience leading modernization efforts using Strangler Fig or Ship of Theseus approaches.
- Deep understanding of healthcare data formats, interface patterns, and competitive dynamics.
- Strong cloud, DevOps, and CI/CD collaboration experience.
