What do we need

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps and Security Engineer for our M-Star team. M-Star is modern computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software that provides first-principles modelling tools for scientists and engineers, generating predictions that are functionally indistinguishable from measured data.

As the Senior Cloud Infrastructure and Security Engineer you will maintain and enhance our cloud-based infrastructure. This role combines DevOps, AWS-based deployment, and IT Security. The engineer should have strong experience managing deployed DevOps systems in the cloud. You will spearhead our ISO 27001 effort and maintain compliance with corporate security requirements.

You will work in a small yet highly effective and efficient specialised team, who deliver world class CFD software to multiple industries including Life Sciences, Chemical Material, Industrial and much more. In this role will work alongside colleagues who have the brightest minds, holding PhDs and who regularly write research papers and speak at conferences. The opportunity to learn is vast!

In this role you will get to:

Build, CI, and Licensing Systems

Maintain and operate the software build server and continuous integration pipelines for cross-platform desktop and HPC applications
Manage release processes and versioned software distribution.
Support and maintain license control systems and related backend services.

Cloud Infrastructure & Operations

Maintain AWS-based software distribution and business operations systems
Lead IT security related efforts such as ISO 27001 and corporate security implementations
Manage and configure AWS services, including:
EC2, RDS, S3, ECR
IAM, WAF, CloudFront, Identity
CloudTrail, Security Lake
Ensure security, scalability, and reliability of cloud infrastructure
Support operational tooling across AWS and other cloud providers
Administrator for a diverse set of services (Office, AWS, Github, Mailchimp, etc)

We are looking for people who have 10+ years of professional experience with an education or working experience background in IT infra or software development. You will be a highly advanced software engineer typically beginning to become hyper-focused/specialised, a team member who makes important product decisions regarding direction and scope and be comfortable acting as the single point for engineering within MStar.

The key skills we are looking for

Strong AWS infrastructure background
Strong CI/CD, build systems background
Knowledge of IT Security best practices, ISO 27001 requirements

You may also have

Software developer experience using C++ and Python
Experience with software licensing systems
Knowledge of C++ build systems
Python for CI automation and operations
