Engineering Project Release Manager
Corelight
Towards the end of our interview process is an in-person interview.
Do you want to help make the world safe from cyber attack?
At Corelight, we believe that the best approach to cybersecurity risk starts with the network. Attackers can evade endpoint detection, firewalls and many other technologies - but they can’t avoid leaving digital footprints on the networks they traverse. Built on open-source innovations from Zeek, Suricata and YARA and refined through years of real-world use, Corelight transforms network footprints from physical, virtual and cloud networks into actionable insights. Our customers use these insights to speed incident response and proactively hunt for threats.
We are looking for a highly analytical and process-driven Engineering Project Release Manager to own the coordination and execution of our critical software and feature releases. This role isn't just about managing a schedule; it's about being the data-driven central nervous system for our engineering organization. You will leverage metrics and insights to identify bottlenecks, mitigate risk, and drive predictable, high-quality delivery velocity.
The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, can synthesize information from multiple streams simultaneously, and is comfortable being the expert facilitator who aligns large, diverse groups of stakeholders—from engineers to executives. If you believe that a decision isn't final until the data backs it up, we want to talk to you.
Core Responsibilities
- Metrics-Based Decision Making : Define, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for release health, quality, and velocity. Use data, not just intuition, to halt, accelerate, or modify release plans.
- Data Analysis and Presentation : Directly access and analyze raw data from various systems. This includes writing complex queries in tools like Splunk, LogScale, or SQL equivalents and performing deep-dive analysis and modeling using Excel or Google Sheets. Design and create effective, tailored dashboards and charts for distinct audiences. Translate complex technical risks into clear, concise executive summaries for leadership, and present detailed metrics to engineering teams.
- Triage and Facilitation: Act as the definitive point person for release-impacting issues. Monitor multiple communication channels and information streams in real-time, rapidly triaging, prioritizing, and escalating critical blockers to resolution. Plan and lead all major release coordination meetings (e.g., Go/No-Go reviews). Skillfully facilitate discussions with large, cross-functional groups (Engineering, Product, Marketing, Legal) to drive consensus and commitment on release scope and timelines.
- Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve the release process by championing automation, reducing manual overhead, and implementing best practices derived from retrospective data.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Release Management, Technical Program Management, or a similar role in a fast-paced software development environment.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize multiple, simultaneous information streams into a coherent status update, demonstrating superior situational awareness.
- Proficiency in desktop data analysis tools, specifically Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Proven ability to write and execute complex queries in metrics/logging systems such as Splunk, LogScale, ELK Stack, or direct SQL to generate custom reports and deep-dive analytics.
- Familiarity of the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and modern Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the proven ability to craft compelling data narratives and present to senior executive audiences.
- Comfort and proven track record acting as a facilitator and decision-maker for large, high-stakes coordination meetings.
- Able to use AI tools to accelerate process goals and explain why, when, and how they are appropriate to others.
Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience managing releases across both SaaS and hardware/firmware components.
- Certifications in related disciplines (e.g., Scrum Master, PMP).
- Programming experience in any language (Python, Java, Go, C#, etc.)
