Cirsium Biosciences is creating the next generation of manufacturing technologies for viral vector production. Our novel plant-based platform solves the existing problems of speed, flexibility, scalability, and safety in viral vector manufacturing while dramatically reducing production costs. Our goal is to enable global and equitable access to life-changing genetic therapies.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Associate I to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our molecular biology research projects, with a focus on cell culture, and other in vitro assays. This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to generate high-quality data and provide insights into compound activity, mechanism of action, and biomarker identification. The ideal candidate will be ready to start immediately and contribute to our innovative research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain and culture mammalian cell lines, primary cells, and co-culture systems.

  • Conduct screening and pharmacological profiling of drug candidates.

  • Utilize molecular and biochemical techniques such as, RNA isolation, RT-qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and immunofluorescence.

  • Develop and perform in vitro cellular assays, including cell viability, proliferation, apoptosis, and mechanistic studies.

  • Analyze experimental data, ensure reproducibility, and present findings to cross-functional teams.

  • Work collaboratively with other teams to support assay development, data interpretation, and project advancement.

  • Maintain detailed and organized records, write technical reports, and contribute to regulatory documentation.

  • Stay updated with advancements in assay technologies and cell-based model development.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • M.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field with 2-5 years of relevant laboratory experience, or a B.S. with 5-7+ years of hands-on research experience.

  • Strong expertise in in vitro assay development, optimization, and execution.

  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture techniques, including working with primary cells and 3D culture models.

  • Familiarity with gene modulation techniques (e.g., CRISPR, siRNA/shRNA) is a plus.

  • Experience with data analysis software such as GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, or ImageJ.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
