Job Description

About the role:

Product PMO (Program Management Office) is a strategic partner for Product and the rest of the organization in orchestrating a framework of cross functional delivery processes and program management whose ultimate goal is the successful enablement of the product roadmap and the overall company’s OKRs.

This framework transforms the OKRs into a clear, strategically aligned, focused and effective portfolio of programs, projects and product increments and associated cross functional plans of action that span multiple departments and are focused on delivering incremental and measurable value to Checkout and its customers.

As a Staff Program Manager, you will operate at a high level of strategic and operational excellence. Reporting to the Product PMO, you will lead the implementation of foundational planning and cross-functional delivery frameworks, securing senior stakeholder buy-in and managing programs critical to Checkout’s global growth. You’ll play a key role in enabling product execution and evolving our PMO to meet the demands of scale, complexity, and pace.

This role is based in London, requiring presence in the office 3 days a week

What you’ll be doing:

We’re seeking a highly experienced Staff Program Manager to lead large-scale, complex programs with global impact and strategic significance. In this role, you will:

  • Refine, scale, and sustain program delivery frameworks, including intake, portfolio planning, risk governance, and reporting, aligned with organizational maturity.

  • Lead the strategic deployment of portfolio and program management tools, including enabling data-driven insights and exploring AI opportunities for optimization.

  • Manage large, multi-quarter programs across multiple business units, geographies, and product lines, ensuring delivery aligns with roadmaps and OKRs.

  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to translate high-level strategy into clear, actionable plans with defined outcomes, timelines, and metrics.

  • Provide delivery thought leadership and mentorship to Program Managers and Product Managers, fostering continuous growth and capability enhancement.

  • Influence executive decision-making by delivering high-quality, transparent updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs through crisp communication and reporting.

Qualifications

  • You have at least 5 years of program management or delivery experience within Product led organizations who delivered, ideally, Payments products in multiple regions

  • You have hands on experience of leading cross-department projects within fast-growing global organizations, leading projects end-to-end, and ensuring continuous improvement

  • You have a good understanding of various methodologies of software delivery lifecycle and change management, ideally Agile and SAFe

  • You drive the teams with clarity, alignment and focus to action the plan

  • You are proactive, autonomous, with the ability to identify issues independently and drive creative solutions in a complex, dependency-heavy environment

  • You have the ability to convey ideas and recommendations in a clear, compelling, and succinct way in written and verbal communications, effectively influencing a wide variety of audiences

  • You have a natural and authentic ability to engage and work in collaboration with people from various backgrounds and cultures

  • You are open to travel internationally for specific workshops where and when needed
