About the role:

As a Software Engineer - Core Modeling, at Camunda, you will focus on the development of the Desktop Modeler and the bpmn.io platform. You’ll work as part of the Desktop Modeler team building out these components and partner with the Web Modeler and AI teams to help accelerate their roadmaps.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Work cross functionally with Web Modeler and AI teams to build the foundations needed for them to be successful. This includes building support for Copilot in the Desktop Modeler.

  • Work with Product Management and Design to understand and refine the user experience for new features and ensure what we’re building is being designed for enterprise use cases

  • Address technical gaps and debt, including migration from Enzyme to the testing library.

This role is ideal for a technically strong engineer who:

  • Has experience in developing product for large enterprises

  • Is comfortable reviewing user journeys and providing constructive feedback

  • Takes ownership of their work while inviting collaboration

  • Focuses on the customer

What You Bring:

  • Ability and/or willingness to use our product

  • At least one year of experience in software development, including code writing, reviewing, testing, and refactoring.

  • Understanding of web development and proficiency in programming with JavaScript.

  • An interest in user-centered design and the web platform. We build modeling tools people love, embeddable everywhere, by everyone.

  • A pragmatic, autonomous approach to problem solving—able to deliver incremental progress through iterative solutions.

  • The ability to take others along (i.e. active participation in decisions and knowledge sharing).

Nice-to-haves:

  • Interest in library and open source development.

  • Interest in B2B / “process orchestration” as a domain

  • Experience with working with GitHub, CI/CD systems.

What We Have to Offer:

Compensation:

We offer competitive, fair, and transparent compensation. Salary ranges are location-based, with Standard and Major markets (global tech hubs) reflecting local competition.

The Annual Total Target Cash (base salary + 100% variable target, where applicable) shown below spans from the minimum in a Standard market to the maximum in a Major market. Final offers depend on skills, experience, and location, and we typically hire in the first half of the range to allow room for growth:

  • United States: $119,900to $193,200

  • Germany: €77,400 to €128,100

  • United Kingdom: £75,300 to £123,800

  • Singapore: S$148,900 to S$223,300

If you’re based elsewhere, you’ll be hired via Remote.com (our global employer partner), and your Talent Acquisition Partner will provide a personalized Total Rewards Calculator after your first interview.

Equity: We also offer equity (where applicable) through ou rVirtual Stock Option Plan (VSOP).
