Senior Product Manager - Carpool Experience

About BlaBlaCar
BlaBlaCar is the world’s leading community-based travel app enabling 27 million members a year to carpool or travel by bus in 21 countries. Our team of 800 employees counts over 50 nationalities and is spread across our 5 global offices, 30% working fully remotely.
The role
Carpool Experience covers everything between two members once they have found each other: agreeing on the trip, talking, meeting up, and building trust.
Vision: a carpool experience that feels easy and safe for passengers and drivers, from the first hello to the final goodbye.
Mission: make it simple for members to talk, negotiate, meet up and trust each other.
You own six product areas, used by millions of members every month:
Negotiation. Before booking, passengers can ask the driver for a detour, a lower price or another special request, and add a tip. Drivers accept, decline or make a counter-offer. It launched in France in 2025 and went worldwide in 2026. It is still a new product: what it should become, and how far it can go, is yours to figure out.
Messaging. The chat between drivers and passengers. Next up: Group Chat, and catching up with market standards.
GPS Tracking: both the technical capability as well as features it enables (including sharing ETA on the map, ESC bonus in Spain among others)
Post-Carpool ride XP (claims, ratings etc.). How members build trust in each other. This includes AI Ratings Summary, BlaBlaCar's first consumer-facing GenAI feature.
Communication Service and contact preferences. The platform that sends every push notification, email, SMS and WhatsApp message across the company, plus the settings members use to choose what they receive.
Marketing tools. Braze and deeplinks, used by the CRM and marketing teams.
This is a key scope, and you own its strategy. That comes with high exposure: you present to the Executive Committee every two weeks. You get a direct say in company decisions, and you are expected to bring clear thinking and solid arguments to the table.
Your Responsibilities
- Set the direction. Build the vision and strategy for your scope, turn it into ambitious OKRs, and get leadership behind them.
- Own the numbers. Know your business metrics, reliability targets and costs in detail. Review them every month and act on what they tell you, without being asked.
- Shape the future of Negotiation. Work out where its real value is for members and for BlaBlaCar, decide how it should evolve (new use cases such as negotiation after booking, conversion, usage), and prove the impact on passengers (PAX) and GMV.
- Ship the next member interactions: Group Chat, live location for both drivers and passengers, and the next version of the Communication Service.
- Run experiments and rollouts with discipline. Run A/B tests and country-by-country launches with decision rules set in advance, together with Legal, Privacy and country leads.
- Hold your own with the ExCo. Every two weeks, present progress, decisions and trade-offs to the Executive Committee. Take a clear position, defend it, and change it when the evidence calls for it.
- Raise the bar of the product team. Share your methods, coach other PMs, and challenge how we work.
Your Qualifications
You take full ownership of your product's outcomes. You go to the data with a question, spot what changed before anyone flags it, and act on it. You don't wait for direction: you come with a clear proposal, build it with your team and stakeholders, and follow through.
You turn many signals into one clear strategy. You combine data, user research, market moves and tech constraints into one view of where the product should go, not a list of projects. You can explain it in two minutes, it holds from one conversation to the next, and you cut complexity to get more done with less.
You understand the business, not just the product. You know how BlaBlaCar makes money and where your scope fits in. You can give your key metrics, their current level and what moves them without opening a dashboard. You talk about impact on PAX, GMV and costs as naturally as about features.
You have strong opinions and an open mind. You take a clear position without waiting for leadership to take theirs, back it with evidence, and change your view openly when a better argument comes along.
You communicate at a leadership level. You have already owned discussions with C-level or ExCo on strategy and trade-offs, and come out with decisions. You adapt your message to each audience and resolve conflicts constructively.
