| Sr. Engineer, Product Test and Validation Engineer Location: Hsinchu (on-site) Ayar Labs is shattering AI data bottlenecks by moving data at the speed of light. As pioneers of co-packaged optics (CPO), we are using light instead of electricity to move data faster, further, and with a fraction of the energy needed to fuel the explosive growth of AI models. Backed by industry giants like NVIDIA, AMD, Mediatek and Intel and manufactured in partnership with the world’s leading semiconductor ecosystem, Ayar Labs’ co-packaged optics solution is key to unleashing next-generation AI scale-up architectures. Responsibilities - Perform functional testing and validation of ESLFP (External Laser Small Form Factor Pluggable) optical modules at EVB and rack/system level under air cooling and liquid cooling test setups.
- Set up test equipment and measure ESLFP module/Optical Engine (OE)/COS/COB level optical performance, including optical power, wavelength, RIN, linewidth, PER, and ORL.
- Conduct thermal simulation and testing and characterization, including evaluation of heat dissipation, TEC performance, and cooling solutions.
- Work closely with hardware, optics, firmware, and mechanical teams to debug and resolve product issues.
- Investigate product failures and perform root cause analysis during validation and reliability & DVT & Functional testing.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams, CM and ODM partners to ensure smooth transition from engineering validation to production testing.
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to test and validate NPI optical products.
- Perform thermal testing on ESLFP modules across various operating temperatures to validate thermal performance of the PCB, Optical engine, TEC, TIMs, other passive heat sinks, and housing, and provide innovative thermal solution ideas.
Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or related field.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in optical module testing such as; External laser modules, Optical Transceiver, AOC, or high-speed communication hardware validation.
- Strong understanding of CWDM/DWDM/EML laser diode used in optical modules.
- Familiarity with EVB-level and system/rack-level testing environments.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing test data, generate comprehensive validation reports, identify product and process variations, and develop improvement plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, silicon photonics, or advanced optical interconnect technologies.
- Willingness to work at contract manufacturer (CM) sites and travel internationally (20–30%) as required.
- Prior experience in an optical product testing & validation engineering role.
- Experience supporting NPI and manufacturing test development.
