Apollo GraphQL is hiring a Head of Marketing to lead our marketing function during a transformational period for the company, as we expand from our position as the leading GraphQL platform into the emerging AI agent middleware market.

This is a player-coach role: you’ll set marketing strategy and personally execute high-impact work across product marketing, demand generation, web, and PR/AR while building and managing the team. We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves alongside strategic planning.

You’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with Product, Sales, and Developer Relations to position Apollo as essential infrastructure for the next generation of AI-native applications.

What you’ll do

  • Own and execute product marketing for Apollo’s GraphQL platform and agentic middleware products, including positioning, messaging, competitive intelligence, and sales enablement

  • Build and run demand generation programs that drive qualified pipeline, with clear attribution and ROI measurement

  • Lead Apollo’s website and LLM content strategy and execution, optimizing for developer experience and conversion

  • Develop and execute PR/AR strategy to establish Apollo as a thought leader in AI agent infrastructure

  • Partner with Sales to align on targets, enablement needs, and feedback loops

  • Collaborate with Developer Relations on community programs and content strategy

  • Plan and execute major events including Apollo Summit

  • Build, mentor, and manage the marketing team as we scale

Who you are

You’re a hands-on marketing leader who gets energy from both strategic planning and execution. You’ve marketed technical products to developers and enterprises, and you understand the nuances of reaching both audiences. You’re excited about the AI revolution and want to help shape how developers build AI-native applications.

Minimum requirements

  • 8+ years of B2B marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role at a developer tools, infrastructure, or enterprise software company

  • Proven track record in product marketing: developing positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies for technical products

  • Hands-on demand generation experience with demonstrated ability to build and optimize pipeline-generating programs

  • Experience marketing to developer audiences with understanding of developer buying behavior and community dynamics

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts

  • Demonstrated comfort with both strategic planning and hands-on execution in a lean team environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with GraphQL, APIs, or developer infrastructure products

  • Background in AI/ML infrastructure or familiarity with the AI agent ecosystem

  • Experience with analyst relations (Gartner, Forrester) and category creation

  • Track record of building and scaling marketing teams at growth-stage companies

  • Active user of AI tools in marketing workflows (content creation, automation, analytics)
