The Opportunity

The Senior IT Systems Engineer is a handson, senior technical role responsible for the stability, security, and evolution of AMCS Group’s IT infrastructure and platforms. This role acts as an escalation point for complex technical issues, drives improvements to reliability and security, and delivers infrastructure and operational projects across the business.

The role requires onsite presence two days per week to support physical infrastructure, office environments, and collaborative activities.

  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex incidents, leading investigation, rootcause analysis, and permanent resolution and provide L2/L3 support to Service Desk and IT Operations engineers.

  • Implement and support onprem, hybrid, and cloud infrastructure across Windows, Linux, virtualisation, and networking platforms.

  • Administer and continuously improve Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, DNS/DHCP, and identity federation services.

  • Maintain endpoint, server, and network patching, configuration, and lifecycle management.

  • Embed security best practices across identity, endpoint, network, and infrastructure platforms.

  • Support audit readiness and evidence gathering aligned to ISO27001, SOC, and internal control frameworks.

  • Perform server, security, and configuration audits in line with business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of security posture, resilience, and risk management.

  • Lead or strongly contribute to infrastructure initiatives such as office moves, network/firewall refreshes, hybridcloud improvements, and acquiredcompany integrations.

  • Ensure technical work aligns with enterprise standards, security frameworks, and change control processes.

  • Coordinate with vendors, partners, and internal teams to deliver changes safely and effectively.

  • Act as a trusted technical partner to IT leadership on design decisions, risk, and prioritisation.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 7–10+ years’ experience in systems and network engineering roles (Windows, Linux, virtualisation, networking).

  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, and identity/security controls.

  • Solid grounding in Azure fundamentals and hybrid infrastructure concepts.

  • Networking experience across LAN/WAN/WLAN, firewalls (Cisco/Fortinet/Sophos), routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs.

  • Experience with virtualisation platforms (VMware and/or HyperV) and backup/DR concepts.

  • Strong scripting/automation mindset (infrastructure, monitoring, or operational automation).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to operate confidently with senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or a related field and minimum 7+ years relevant experience preferred.

  • A Network certification would be beneficial.

  • An Azure cloud certification would be beneficial.

The candidate has to be based in London.
