This is a hybrid role based in Los Angeles (Culver City) or the San Francisco Bay Area (FiDi), with an expectation of being in the office at least three days per week.
The opportunity
Altruist is in the midst of an exceptional growth phase and we’re excited to hire a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing team. This is a high-impact role where you'll play a key part in building and maintaining the reliability of systems that power our fintech platform—serving thousands of advisors and their clients across the country.
Your impact
- Lead the design and implementation of complex, scalable systems on AWS and Kubernetes: Architect highly reliable infrastructure for a fast-growing, cloud-native platform.
- Support critical fintech business logic applications built in Java: Ensure the systems that power our core advisor and investment tools are robust, secure, and high-performing.
- Mentor other engineers: Champion reliability best practices and help grow a strong, collaborative engineering culture.
- Own strategies for incident response, disaster recovery, and capacity planning: Help keep our systems resilient and our customers confident.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to define and monitor SLOs/SLIs: Turn metrics into actionable reliability goals.
- Drive initiatives to improve performance, reliability, and infrastructure cost-efficiency: Look for opportunities to automate, optimize, and scale smarter.
What you bring
- Experience - 7+ years of experience working in Site Reliability Engineering or a related role: A proven track record of maintaining and improving system reliability.
- Expertise in AWS services and Kubernetes, including infrastructure as code tools like Terraform: Deep knowledge of cloud services and container orchestration.
- Strong programming skills and experience with automation frameworks: Proficiency in programming, scripting and automating tasks to enhance system efficiency.
- Experience supporting Java-based business applications: Familiarity with Java application deployment and performance tuning.
- Experience with DevOps infrastructure tools and AI technologies: Knowledge of tools that support DevOps practices and AI frameworks is a plus.
- Experience with Apache Spark and AI technologies: Familiarity with big data processing frameworks and AI integration is a big plus.
- Education - Ideally looking for a B.A. / B.S. degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science.

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package, along with equity in the form of Stock Options (ISOs) for eligible roles.
