Our mission is to make financial advice better, more affordable, and accessible to everyone — but we can’t do it alone. We’re seeking exceptional talent to join our team. That’s where you come in!

If you’re passionate about challenging the status quo and making a meaningful impact in the financial advice industry, we’d love to meet you!

But first, our values

Kindness - Kindness doesn’t just equal niceness. We listen to understand. We embrace, and encourage healthy debate and diverse perspectives. We approach conflict openly, honestly, and respectfully.

Brilliance - Humility is the skill we’re most proud of and possessing a growth mindset is always top of mind. We take ownership in everything we touch; regularly using our unique superpowers to reach a common goal as a team. We succeed and fail as one.

Grit - When challenges arise, we stay laser focused on achieving our mission and finding a way forward, even when it’s hard. We are nimble and maintain a sense of urgency, swiftly adapting to change and overcoming obstacles.

The opportunity

Altruist is entering an exciting phase, and we're looking for a Retirement Operations Analyst to join our quickly scaling team! In the role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the integrity of thousands of retirement accounts — processing updates, correcting transactions, supporting tax reporting, and making sure everything stays 100% compliant with IRS and regulatory standards.

Your impact

  • Manage retirement transactions including contributions, distributions, rollovers, RMD recalculations, Roth conversions, recharacterizations, and death claims.
  • Support the preparation and review of critical tax forms (1099-R and 5498) to ensure perfect reporting.
  • Maintain clean, consistent data across all retirement systems and platforms.
  • Partner with internal teams (Client Services, Compliance, Tax Reporting) to resolve maintenance issues and keep operations running smoothly.
  • Ensure all work meets high regulatory and operational standards.
  • Participate in system testing, process enhancement projects, and workflow optimizations aimed at improving operational efficiency and data integrity.

What you bring

  • Experience - 1-3 years of experience in financial operations, retirement services, or brokerage operations.
    • Solid understanding of IRA and 401(k) account rules, including IRS distribution and contribution requirements.
    • Familiarity with custodial operations and tax reporting (1099R, 5498)
    • Familiarity with RMD, recharacterization, and removal of excess processing
    • Knowledge of different retirement account types (Traditional IRAs, Roth IRAs, SEP IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs, and Solo 401(k)s)
    • Knowledge of IRS Publication 590 A/B, the SECURE Act, and other retirement legislation
  • Education - Ideally seeking a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or another related field.
  • Technical aptitude - You’re technologically savvy and can easily get up to speed with workflow tools, document management systems, or back-office processing platforms.
  • Ownership - The pride you put into every aspect of your work is unparalleled and undeniable
  • Superb communication - Intentional dialogue is a superpower. You listen as well as you share your perspective with others.
  • Resilience - We’re inspired by your unwavering determination to achieve success, no matter the adversity you face along the way.
  • Assurance - Your confidence is brilliant, yet ego-less. You possess a strong knowledge base, the ability to discover the unknown, and are open to differing perspectives.
  • Creative problem solving - Identifying the problem is simply not enough. You’re instinctually creative with your approach in finding solutions to roadblocks.
  • Bonus points if you bring
    • FINRA Series 7 or Series 99 (or willingness to obtain).
