Alteryx is searching for a Director, Global Payroll. This position is remote-friendly.

Position Overview:

The Director, Global Payroll will lead and develop the global payroll delivery team to optimize and process payroll across numerous countries. Reporting directly to the VP, Accounting Operations, we are looking for a forward-thinking, innovation-driven leader who embraces technology and continuous improvement to transform our global payroll operations.

This role will drive AI-enabled process innovation, leveraging platforms like Workday HR, ADP Workforce Now and Celergo, and emerging automation tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. The Director will also be responsible for registering and setting up payroll in new jurisdictions as we continue our international expansion, ensuring compliance.

This leader will serve as a strategic partner to HR, Finance, Legal, and Technology, ensuring global payroll is compliant, employee-centric, and continuously evolving through technology and intelligent automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of the Company’s payroll in 15+ countries, in accordance with global policies, procedures, and legislative compliance requirements (including tax and labor laws).

  • Lead the evaluation, adoption, and implementation of AI tools and machine learning models to streamline payroll processing, error detection, and reporting.

  • Manage setup of payroll for newly established entities and support expansion into new regions, including integration of payroll systems through M&A activities.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and excellence within the payroll team; identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and process re-engineering.

  • Provide prompt, friendly, and efficient customer service to employees and ensure payroll issues are escalated and resolved, including AI-enabled root cause analysis and predictive solutions.

  • Motivate and develop a high-functioning global payroll team, instilling best practices and promoting continuous learning.

  • Partner with the Digital Transformation, HRIS, and Data Analytics teams to leverage AI and analytics for forecasting, trend analysis, and performance insights.

  • Direct and audit payroll procedures including earnings, garnishments, tax withholding, and absence processing.

  • Partner with HR on onboarding, terminations, and other changes impacting payroll; actively contribute to cross-functional AI pilots and digital workflows.

  • Collaborate with Tax on payroll tax-related matters and with Accounting for monthly close; utilize automated reconciliation and audit tools where feasible.

  • Partner with Legal to ensure accurate equity-based payroll processing and compliance.

  • Enhance and maintain robust internal controls, including adoption of AI-supported anomaly detection and compliance checks.

  • Oversee department structure and workload to maximize efficiency.

  • Monitor and implement changes in global payroll legislation, proactively updating systems and processes accordingly.

  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of required payroll returns and issuance of W-2 and equivalent forms.

  • Maintain confidentiality and data security across all payroll and employee records.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, HR, Finance, or a related field.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred.

  • 10+ years of over payroll experience with 5+ years of leadership experience in a global company.

  • Demonstrated experience with global expansion, payroll setup, and M&A integrations.

  • Strong technical knowledge of global tax, reporting, and payroll compliance.

  • Deep experience with ADP Workforce Now and Celergo and Workday HRIS;

  • Demonstrated success leading payroll transformation initiatives, including intelligent automation, finance outsourcing, and AI adoption.

  • Strong leadership skills with a willingness to take a hands-on approach as needed.

  • Proven excellence in customer service, team development, and operational delivery.

  • Experience driving change management and digital transformation in a global setting.

Compensation:

Alteryx is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.

The salary range for this role in the United States is $183,125 - $212,000.
