The position:

We’re looking for a dynamic and technically savvy Senior Manager to lead and grow our engineering team focused on A Place for Mom’s B2B platform. This is a rare opportunity to help shape a product from the ground up, working in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment where ownership and experimentation are encouraged.

The B2B platform is the core experience for our agency partners—our external customers—to view and manage their leads, explore trends, run reports, and uncover insights that help grow their business. The team is building this new ecosystem from scratch, including the partner portal, lead delivery mechanisms, reporting dashboards, and tools that enable agencies to deliver exceptional care experiences.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you’ll be both a strategic driver and hands-on leader, guiding engineers through early build and rapid iteration. You’ll collaborate closely with our AI and B2C teams to shape a connected ecosystem that powers both sides of our marketplace.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and is excited to build something lasting. You’ll lead a small but mighty team that challenges the status quo and takes real ownership of the product experiences we deliver to our partners.

Who you are:

You’re a builder at heart — someone who loves finding opportunity in complexity and unclear situations, and has a track record of turning undefined processes into well-oiled systems. You know how to lead with influence, bring people along through change, and create a culture of accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.

You understand the future vision of your product area and direct the team in building iterative, scalable solutions for the present and future business opportunities. You will leverage your technology experience to direct your team in evaluating and selecting the latest technologies, architectural frameworks, and design patterns for implementation. Your role will involve providing visionary leadership and direction to a dedicated team of engineers focused on the mission of engaging families looking for senior living solutions.

The ideal candidate is an outcome-oriented, technology-focused people leader with significant experience building and managing high performance teams and demonstrating a strong partnership with stakeholders, ensuring alignment between technological innovation and business goals.

What you will do:

● Encourage your team to experiment and innovate with new technologies, build proof of concept, and present the results to your peers and leadership across the Tech organization

● Partner with other directors and tech leads across Tech to understand cross-team dependencies, validate feature proposals, and drive system improvements.

● Provide the team with the coaching, confidence, and motivation to make decisions independently that lead to their personal and professional success.

● Responsible for the team’s technical strategy and roadmap - driving towards business outcomes and tracking success metrics in close collaboration with other Engineering Managers, Product Partners, and stakeholders and aligning work to achieving those metrics.

● Professionally develop engineers on your team by helping them build and execute personal development plans that map to our organization goals. Aggressively recruit and hire talented engineers.

● Work closely with Product Partners and Stakeholders to ensure that the company objectives are met on time while simultaneously balancing necessary engineering requirements and influencing the overall technical direction and user experience of our website.

● Influence culture and team norms—helping the B2B organization mature its engineering and delivery practices with empathy, curiosity, and grit.

Required Skills and Competencies:

● 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams building web-scale or platform products.

● Experience working on or managing high performance engineering teams, preferably developers and QA engineers in a combined team

● Experience leading teams developing modern, high traffic applications and backend services, preferably using Node/TypeScript

● Strong understanding of project management software, preferably Jira

● Strong understanding of metrics and analytics to guide data driven decisions

● Understanding of API design, event streaming (Redis/Kafka), and real-time communication systems.

● Understanding of data collection and storage methodologies and tools like MySQL / PostgreSQL / MongoDB / Elasticsearch

● Understanding of AWS Services, Docker Containers, and CI/CD

● A proven ability to navigate ambiguity, define direction, and align teams around team goals.

● Experience working in Agile environments, with a strong grasp of SDLC and continuous delivery.

● Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills—you inspire trust, create clarity, and drive change.

● Exposure to AI/ML-integrated products or large-scale personalization systems.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $155,000 to $170,000 + 30% Bonus

  • Benefits:

    • 401(k) plus match

    • Dental insurance

    • Health insurance

    • Vision Insurance

    • Paid Time Off
