Job Description

We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer who will utilize a modern technology stack to update and maintain our Data Insights Dashboards and tooling. This role entails being a self-driven engineer with broad full stack experience and deep frontend technology experience rendering large data sets.

This position reports to the Director of Engineering - Web. You will leverage your expertise in front-end web technology to meticulously select the latest technologies, architectural frameworks, and design patterns for implementation. Your role will involve architectural direction, design, development, testing and maintaining our Data Insights Dashboard technologies.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, outcome-oriented, innovative, technology-focused engineer with extensive experience in designing, building, and supporting modern front end technologies. They demonstrate a strong partnership with product teams, ensuring alignment between technological innovation and product development goals. Additionally, they have a passion for applying industry standards and best practices.

What you will do:

  • Use deep UI engineering and creative skills to take an influential role in iterating and continuously deploying new features, functionality, and products to our business users
  • Collaboratively design and architect cloud native and service-oriented UI components and applications
  • Render large data sets in intuitive interfaces and respond rapidly to customer feedback
  • Collaborate with Web and Data teams and peers to design complex applications, peer review code, and suggest optimization
  • Enable continuous deployment by championing quality engineering practices: linting, unit testing, e2e testing, pipeline automation
  • Collaborate with and influence product teams to build and maintain design system standards, processes, and adoption
  • Create reference material and help define engineering best practices as needed
  • Investigate and resolve any production issues from end user (UI) to service layer and work to prevent them
  • Work with project managers to ensure that all project deliverables are on time and high quality
  • Mobile first site performance optimizations with a focus on core web vitals
  • Passionately understand the user experience and create a beautiful web journey

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of engineering experience working with a Javascript/Typescript, React, and NodeJS tech stack
  • In-depth knowledge of front-end technologies, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Experience with manipulating and rendering large data sets and relational databases in a scalable, efficient way; Databricks, GQL and MongoDB preferred.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment while architecting dependable solutions that scale effectively
  • Self-directed with a track record of turning non-technical product requests into technical work
  • Strong communication and “storytelling” skills – ability to contribute to a vision or concept in simple terms to a non-technical audience.
  • Helps enable and establish services and products to take advantage of changing industry trends and opportunities
  • Is able to step back from a task and reassess size and complexity when appropriate
  • Takes ownership of the quality of the solution or feature being implemented
  • Demonstrates competent problem-solving skills (e.g. debugging, analysis and instrumentation) in a context beyond code they've written
  • Takes ownership of keeping technical documentation for their features up to date.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $130k - $160k + 10% Bonus
