Description
Who we are
The 4M story is likely one you haven’t heard before: We’re on a mission to unlock access to the world below us, doing for underground utilities what Google Maps did for roads. Our Utility AI platform provides instant, verified subsurface utility data to reduce risk, accelerate planning, and increase safety for infrastructure projects across the U.S.
We’re growing fast, with teams based in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Austin, Texas, and a customer base that now spans utility owners, state agencies, and some of the largest infrastructure stakeholders in the country.
About the Role
As a Utility Owners Solutions Engineer at 4M Analytics, you’ll play a critical dual-role across both pre‑sales and post‑sales engagements. You’ll partner closely with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, demos, and pilot execution, and work hand‑in‑hand with Customer Success to onboard and enable electric, natural gas, and telecom utilities after the sale.
You’ll be the technical face of 4M to our most strategic utility owner accounts, translating complex subsurface and asset-management workflows into clear, visual, and compelling narratives. From pilots to enterprise rollouts, you’ll ensure utility owners experience value quickly and continuously.
Target Clients
This role is focused on supporting major utility owner organizations across the U.S. You’ll work directly with:
- Investor-owned electric utilities
- Natural gas transmission and distribution utilities
- Telecom and broadband network owners
These organizations rely on accurate, timely subsurface data to plan, design, and maintain networks safely and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in helping them integrate 4M’s platform into their asset management, engineering, and construction planning processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Technical Discovery & Demo - Work with AEs to identify utility‑specific pain points (e.g., legacy records, overlapping assets, risk zones) and map those to compelling 4M solution stories.
- Drive Pilot Execution - Define success criteria with client teams (e.g., network overlap validation, legacy record accuracy), process utility data, and deliver measurable results.
- Support Technical Close - Act as the trusted technical advisor during procurement, compliance reviews, and security evaluations.
- Onboard & Enable New Utility Clients - Collaborate with CSMs to ensure successful data delivery, user adoption, and integration into the client’s engineering, GIS, and asset management workflows.
- Feedback Loop to Product - Serve as the voice of the field, surfacing insights and feature requests to our product and engineering teams for continuous platform improvement.
- Pre‑Sale to Post‑Sale Continuity - Own technical alignment and build long‑term trust from first meeting through ongoing usage and expansion.
Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Solutions Engineer, Technical Consultant, or Implementation Lead supporting utility owners — preferably electric, gas, or telecom companies.
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences.
- Background in utility engineering, GIS/asset management software, or infrastructure SaaS is strongly preferred.
- Experience delivering product demos, pilots, or technical proofs-of-concept to support enterprise sales.
- A fast learner with a high degree of curiosity, coachability, and ownership.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to meet with client teams onsite (typically 1–2 times/month).
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams across Product, Sales, and Customer Success.
Preferred
- Prior work with utility mapping, SUE standards, or ASCE 38/75 workflows.
- Experience with Esri, Autodesk, Bentley, Hexagon, or other utility design/asset management tools.
- Understanding of utility procurement cycles and enterprise software purchasing.
- Engineering degree or background in electrical, geospatial, or utility engineering disciplines.
- Hands‑on experience with utility coordination and network design processes.
Key Attributes We Value
- Work Ethic: You consistently go the extra mile to deliver results.
- Grit and Resilience: You take initiative, adapt to challenges, and maintain momentum in long sales cycles.
- Curiosity and Passion: You’re eager to understand the intricacies of our product and its impact on client workflows.
